About the position
The Technologist Assistant at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center plays a crucial role in the Radiology department by ensuring the safe and efficient transport of patients to and from exam areas. This position supports technologists in the setup and preparation of imaging exams, while also maintaining effective communication with patients and healthcare staff. The role requires a basic understanding of imaging processes and the ability to adapt to various situations in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients to and from the exam area using various modes of transport (hospital beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.)
- Assist and provide support to the technologist in the setup, preparation, and transition of exams as instructed.
- Properly identify all patients prior to performing any patient service.
- Ensure patient safety during transport and assist in lifting and moving patients as requested.
- Monitor and stock needed supplies and materials to provide uninterrupted patient care.
- Coordinate patient transitions with other departments to ensure the efficient flow of patients and information.
- Work directly with technologists to assist in exam workflow management.
- Utilize computer systems as required and maintain proficiency.
- Complete work in a timely manner and adjust to busy or stressful situations as presented.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the department and hospital.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Computer skills
- Ability to communicate patient needs to the tech
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
