About the position

Travel Nurse Across America is seeking a travel Interventional Radiology Technologist for a travel job in Fairfield, Ohio. This position is for an IR Tech who will be responsible for operating fluoroscopic equipment and assisting physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. The ideal candidate should have at least one year of recent acute care experience. The role requires the IR Tech to prepare and observe patients undergoing procedures, as well as report any abnormal activity. As an IR Tech, you will be expected to confirm patient identification, review imaging requests, and explain procedures to patients, providing reassurance and support as needed. You will assist in scrubbing all diagnostic and interventional procedures and monitor patients throughout these procedures. A thorough knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices, and techniques is essential to ensure adequate safeguards are maintained for both patients and operators. Additionally, you should possess a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology, particularly the location, appearance, and function of various systems susceptible to radiologic exposure. This knowledge is crucial for accurately interpreting examination requests. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records and utilizing the McKesson PACS system effectively. This travel position is expected to last for 13 weeks, with a work schedule of 40 hours per week, typically in 8-hour shifts during the day. The start date for this position is set for August 5, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Operate fluoroscopic equipment and assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.
  • Prepare and observe patients undergoing procedures and report any abnormal activity.
  • Confirm patient identification and review imaging requests.
  • Explain procedures to patients, providing reassurance and support as required.
  • Assist in scrubbing all diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Monitor patients during all procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of radiation protection standards and techniques to ensure safety for patients and operators.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and utilize the McKesson PACS system.

Requirements

  • Must have 1 year of recent acute care experience.
  • Must have BLS, ACLS, and AART National certifications.
  • Must possess a Certificate of Vascular-Interventional Radiology (VI) or Cardiac-interventional Radiology (CI).
  • State-specific licensing when required.
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods, as well as bend, lean, or stoop without difficulty.
