About the position

At HUB International, the Technology and Operations Delivery PMO Director plays a pivotal role in leading and managing the program management office (PMO) that focuses on supporting enterprise-affecting programs and projects. This position is responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex technology projects across the organization, ensuring that the PMO adds value and aligns with the strategic goals of the organization. The Director will foster a culture of service, quality, risk management, and governance, all aimed at achieving results. The PMO Director collaborates closely with technical subject matter experts, department leaders, product managers, engineers, application owners, business partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop integrated plans that create a transparent, realistic, and actionable roadmap of initiatives supporting strategic goals. This role also involves owning the tools and communication channels that facilitate the PMO's work, championing features, and managing inputs and outputs for the benefit of all stakeholders. Additionally, the Director provides strategic guidance, coaching, and mentoring to PMO staff and project teams, ensuring that the PMO operates effectively and efficiently. The Director is tasked with defining, managing, and directing the end-to-end PMO work effort, leveraging best practices to identify, quantify, and track the realization of expected benefits defined in business cases. This includes ensuring alignment of the project portfolio with organizational strategy, monitoring project performance, and facilitating consensus among PMO stakeholders and organizational leadership. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor, and fostering a project-management-oriented culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define, manage, and direct the end-to-end PMO work effort.
  • Provide technical insight and context to PMO staff to enhance project engagement.
  • Ensure alignment of project portfolio with organizational strategy, vision, and goals.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, status, risks, issues, and benefits realization.
  • Facilitate consensus around the mission and vision of the PMO organization.
  • Lead the identification and development of PMO roles and team configuration.
  • Establish a stable framework to improve the probability of successful project delivery.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to PMO staff and project managers.
  • Identify areas for organizational agility in adopting best-practice development methodologies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in IT and business/industry.
  • Ten or more years of leadership responsibilities.
  • Ten or more years of program and project management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse project teams.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex, cross-functional, and strategic projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Direct experience with a variety of project management methodologies.
  • Significant knowledge of project planning tools with practical application.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the PMO vision.
