About the position

The Technology Assistant helps ensures the proper functioning of District computer systems by performing various technical duties with respect to the installation, maintenance and repair of hardware, software, peripherals and network systems. The Technology Assistant works independently following standardized routines under general supervision. The nature of the work requires adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations. The position requires high levels of interaction with children from diverse backgrounds, many of whom experience behavior, academic, or physiological challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and resolves common hardware, software, application, peripheral and network system problems.
  • Installs, sets up and configures computer hardware, software and peripherals; upgrades and updates software as needed.
  • Configures computer workstations for network, internet and database connectivity.
  • Provides technical assistance in the operation of hardware, software and related equipment.
  • Performs basic network administration functions, including adding or deleting users, applying security restrictions and monitoring network activity.
  • Assists classroom teachers with computer problems.
  • Provides instruction to students on basics of computer operation.
  • Responds to user requests for service.
  • Trains District and school personnel in the proper use of computers and related technologies.
  • Helps maintain computer and network security, including running necessary anti-virus programs, implementing security patches and removing malware.
  • Keeps current with advances in computer hardware and software.
  • Installs, sets up and ensures proper operation of audio-visual equipment.
  • Maintains effective and respectful working relationships with staff and students.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess basic operational knowledge of computer workstations, peripherals, networking and common software products, including productivity suites, internet browsers and business applications.
  • Must possess knowledge of techniques of installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, networks and peripherals, as well as the specific systems and applications utilized by the District.
  • Must possess an Oregon state driver's license.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and follow multi-step written and verbal instructions in English.

  • $18.99 - $22.05, depending upon approved accepted experience (Pay rate is effective September 2024)
