About the position

The Area Market Sector Leader at HDR, Inc. is responsible for driving business development and project delivery within the technology, media, and telecom sectors. This role involves collaborating with various business group managers to enhance client relationships, secure contracts, and ensure the successful execution of projects. The leader will also focus on strategic marketing initiatives, staff development, and maintaining HDR's industry leadership through innovative practices and strong client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Area Business Group Managers in delivering services within the market sector.
  • Focus on client management and development, serving as a Client Manager, Principal-In-Charge, Project Manager, and key project leader.
  • Assess the Northern California Area marketplace to determine the best business approach for securing contracts.
  • Identify and develop project opportunities, serving as a pursuit champion for HDR.
  • Promote the marketing and delivery of HDR services, driving client development and pursuit processes.
  • Enhance practices to win new work and provide opportunities for staff growth and development.
  • Develop relationships with industry counterparts and senior leadership in key client organizations.
  • Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • If an engineer, maintain engineering registration.
  • Experience in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
  • Experience in managing a wide range of client relationships and specific program/project pursuits.
  • Experience in overall staff development, including recruiting and professional growth.
  • Experience with industry associations and maintaining a visible profile in the market sector.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with various directors and managers within the organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and active participation in the employee-owned culture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Fortune 500 Tech companies.
  • Strong understanding of data center and/or semi-conductor lab power and cooling concepts.
  • Working knowledge of architectural and engineering principles as they apply to data center design and semi-conductor facilities.
  • Experience with site selection criteria for data centers and other tech facilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
