About the position

The Technology Product Owner at PSEG plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This position is a direct report to the Technology Product Manager and is responsible for working closely with business and IT stakeholders to develop and communicate a clear product vision. The Technology Product Owner will define the product backlog, ensuring that it aligns with the overall business strategy and delivers a seamless end-to-end customer experience. This role involves conceiving, defining, testing, delivering, monitoring, refining, and retiring digital products to maximize business results. The successful candidate will work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, from business leaders to delivery teams, driving product success while fostering a self-organizing culture that is essential for agile delivery organizations. In this position, the Technology Product Owner will partner with IT and business leadership to identify opportunities and prioritize products based on predefined criteria such as return on investment and compliance. They will lead product management efforts related to the business's strategic capabilities and oversee product teams. The role requires collaboration with Business Analysts to uncover business needs and value drivers, ensuring that the product strategy is aligned with the overall business objectives. The Technology Product Owner will also be accountable for receiving stakeholder approval on portfolio strategy and plans, as well as developing and managing the product roadmap and backlog. The Technology Product Owner will be responsible for orchestrating the hand-off of products to IT for development and operations, developing actionable user stories, and creating reporting dashboards to provide visibility to business management. They will evaluate and assess risks as part of the product lifecycle analysis, ensuring that the products meet both current and future needs across the organization. Responsibilities

  • Partner with information technology and business leadership to define opportunities and prioritize products based on predefined criteria.
  • Lead product management efforts related to the business's strategic capabilities.
  • Oversee Product Teams and work with Business Analysts to uncover business needs and value drivers.
  • Accountable for receiving approval from stakeholders on portfolio strategy and plan.
  • Collaborate with Technology Group Product Manager to plan for product execution and maintain a product roadmap.
  • Establish and prioritize the product backlog with the business and Product Teams.
  • Work with Finance to define cost allocation and pricing plans for products.
  • Develop and manage the cost model for individual products and identify cost improvement levers.
  • Orchestrate product hand-off to IT for development and operations/support.
  • Develop actionable user stories and reporting dashboards for portfolio visibility.
  • Evaluate and assess risk as part of the product lifecycle analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field and 9+ years of relevant experience in IT or business.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years of experience in IT or business with reliance on technical expertise.
  • Sound expertise in product management and ability to communicate business processes clearly.
  • Proficient in working with business leads to understand needs and provide innovative solutions.
  • Technically knowledgeable with the ability to assess solutions for current and future needs.
  • Proven experience leading teams on implementation and enhancements.
  • Track record as an innovator and agent of change.
  • Experience in long-term planning including building roadmaps and program planning.
  • Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to present to all levels of management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree, e.g., Masters of Business Administration.
  • Experience in designing applications in work order management and mobile workforce management.
  • Experience in analyzing work management processes and data, performing process re-engineering.
  • Over 2 years of experience managing a team of 2+ staff or external contractors.
