About the position

The Technology Product Owner at PSEG plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This position is a direct report to the Technology Product Manager and is responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders, including business leaders and IT teams, to develop and communicate a clear product vision. The Technology Product Owner will define the product backlog, ensuring that it aligns with the overall business strategy and delivers a seamless end-to-end customer experience. This role involves the entire product lifecycle, from conception and definition to testing, delivery, monitoring, refinement, and eventual retirement of digital products. In this position, the Technology Product Owner will partner with IT and business leadership to identify opportunities and prioritize products based on criteria such as return on investment and compliance. They will lead product management efforts, oversee product teams, and work closely with Business Analysts to uncover business needs and value drivers. The Technology Product Owner is accountable for securing stakeholder approval on portfolio strategies and plans, and will also collaborate with the Technology Group Product Manager to organize activities necessary for achieving product goals. The role requires a strong understanding of product strategy, including the establishment and prioritization of the product backlog, and the development of actionable user stories. The Technology Product Owner will also be responsible for developing reporting and dashboards to provide visibility into the product portfolio, evaluating risks, and ensuring that the product roadmap reflects the product vision in a language that resonates with the business. This position is ideal for someone who is innovative, has a strong business acumen, and possesses excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with information technology and business leadership to define opportunities and prioritize products based on predefined criteria.
  • Lead product management efforts related to the business's strategic capabilities and oversee Product Teams.
  • Work with Business Analysts to uncover business needs and value drivers, and secure stakeholder approval on portfolio strategy and plan.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Group Product Manager to plan for product execution and maintain a product plan/roadmap.
  • Establish and prioritize the product backlog with the business and Product Teams, and collaborate with Finance on cost allocation and pricing plans.
  • Oversee the product roadmap to ensure it codifies the product vision and manage the cost model for individual products.
  • Develop the product backlog and actionable user stories, and create reporting/dashboards for portfolio visibility.
  • Evaluate and assess risk as part of the lifecycle analysis of the product.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field and 9+ years of relevant experience in information technology or business.
  • Sound expertise in product management and ability to communicate business processes and technical topics clearly.
  • Proficient in understanding business needs and providing innovative solutions.
  • Technically knowledgeable with the ability to assess solutions for current and future needs across organizations.
  • Proven experience leading teams on implementation and enhancements, with a track record as an innovator.
  • Experience in long-term planning, including building roadmaps and program planning.
  • Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to present to all levels of management.
  • Excellent teamwork, facilitation, relationship building, and negotiation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree, e.g. Masters of Business Administration.
  • Experience in designing applications in work order management and mobile workforce management in the utility industry.
  • Experience in analyzing work management processes and data, performing process re-engineering, and developing future state workflows.
  • Over 2 years of experience managing a team of 2+ staff or external contractors.
  • Experience in technology resource management, job positions, career paths, recruiting, and compensation.
