About the position

The Manager of Technology Simplification at FedEx is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team to streamline and simplify the technology ecosystem within the organization. This role involves strategic planning, governance, and execution of technology initiatives aimed at achieving significant savings in the upcoming fiscal years. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders, oversee governance forums, and ensure effective communication and execution of technology strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and execute strategies to simplify the FedEx technology ecosystem.
• Lead and drive a multidisciplinary team of technical professionals and program managers.
• Partner with leaders across the Data and Technology organization to enable decision-making and ensure alignment.
• Oversee and facilitate governance forums to ensure appropriate rigor and visibility during execution.
• Provide updates to stakeholders, including executive leadership, and escalate risks and issues as necessary.
• Ensure execution plans are developed and monitored through delivery.
• Use fact-based information to influence strategic business decisions.
• Lead workshops and meetings to improve collaboration and mitigate risks.
• Drive the consistent use of FedEx operating model standards and tooling.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and issues that could impact the program's success.
• Lead change management initiatives to minimize disruption and maximize adoption of new technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or a related field.
• Five years of systems development experience, including programming.
• Experience in developing and implementing technology strategies.
• Experience in leading large-scale transformational programs.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
• Strong human relations and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual proficiency.
• Experience with distributed systems and mainframe development.
• Knowledge of software and engineering principles.
