About the position

The Technology Support Specialist II at Colorado Mountain College is responsible for providing technical support for personal computers, Apple devices, classroom technology, and various networking and telecommunications equipment. This role involves assisting end users with software installations, diagnosing hardware and software issues, and training faculty, staff, and students on instructional technology. The position aims to ensure a seamless technology experience within the academic environment, promoting student success and effective use of technology resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for personal computers, Apple devices, and classroom technology.
  • Assist end users with software installations and troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
  • Train and support students, faculty, and staff on instructional technology and software usage.
  • Document support history and resolutions in the college's ticket management system.
  • Coordinate technology support for campus events and functions.
  • Maintain operational integrity of all technology used in instructional settings.
  • Act as a liaison between users and vendors for hardware and software support.
  • Manage the PC/Mac Lab and assist users with digital media.
  • Supervise part-time staff and work-study students as assigned.
  • Perform administrative tasks for device and application management systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with five years of PC/Mac and/or network support experience, or
  • Associate's Degree with three years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related IT field with one year of relevant experience, or
  • Equivalent education and experience that provides necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC, macOS, and mobile device environments.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and meet deadlines.

  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • HDI Desktop Advanced Support Technician certification
  • MD-100 Windows 10 certification
  • Apple Certified Support Professional certification
  • Experience managing Windows 10 OS and server roles
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities.
