About the position
Wiley|Wilson is a 100% employee-owned architecture and engineering firm with over 180 employee-owners serving clients across five locations. We are seeking a Senior Technology Designer to join our team in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will provide subject matter expertise and lead the design and delivery of structured cabling systems, audio/visual systems, and electronic security systems for various projects. This senior role involves project leadership, mentoring and training junior staff, and client-facing responsibilities. You will oversee the entire design process or serve as a technical expert on specialized components while managing multiple concurrent projects. Strong time management, superb interpersonal skills, and excellent task management and organization are critical to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects and provide subject matter expertise.
- Mentor and train junior staff.
- Attend client and project meetings to coordinate items related to scope and design.
- Manage Revit production, assign tasks, and guide team members to project completion.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience designing structured cabling, audio/visual, and electronic security systems.
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is required for candidates with 10-14 years of experience. For candidates with 15+ years of experience, a degree is not required.
- Must hold a BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
- Proficient in Autodesk Revit, including tasks such as model setup, linking, and troubleshooting.
- Strong time management and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to manage tasks effectively and work independently while thriving in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a positive, proactive approach to mentoring junior staff and engaging in client-facing responsibilities.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain a security clearance.
