About the position

The Technology Technician II position at Nash County Public Schools involves supporting and maintaining administrative and instructional computers, software, and networks. The role includes repairing technology-related equipment, providing on-site assistance in various educational settings, and ensuring the proper functioning of technology systems. This position emphasizes building-level support and requires specialized knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain administrative and instructional computers, software, and networks.
  • Repair technology-related equipment and provide on-site assistance in classrooms, media centers, and administrative offices.
  • Identify problems and take corrective action for technology issues.
  • Install and upgrade technology-related equipment in network and stand-alone environments.
  • Provide first response support for the maintenance and operation of computers, software, and networks at the building level.
  • Assist with the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals under supervision.
  • Monitor performance to ensure the maintenance of all computers, software, and local area networks.
  • Make recommendations regarding upgrades and replacement of technology-related equipment.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Operate standard and specialized electronics devices for testing and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a two-year college or technical school with a degree in a related field and eighteen months of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A+ Certification is required; network-related certifications are desired.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and related technologies.
  • General knowledge of IP networking and local area networks.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electronic, and computer principles as applied to the repair and maintenance of computers and peripherals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to learn various computer operations required for management of student information and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
