About the position

The Technology Transfer Intern at Jefferson Lab will support the Research and Technology Partnerships Office in facilitating the transfer of innovations from the lab to the market. This role involves conducting market research, assisting in business development, and contributing to the commercialization process of lab-owned intellectual property. The intern will gain hands-on experience in technology transfer, marketing analysis, and partnership outreach while working in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform market research using various sources such as industry websites, trade publications, SEC filings, patent search tools, and newspapers.
• Conduct phone interviews and surveys for business development and customer development purposes.
• Aid in updating the external and internal websites for the division, including contact forms, event calendars, and other communications vehicles.
• Draft and edit interview scripts, marketing collateral, and other written content.
• Practice technical and software development skills on real business applications.
• Assist in maintaining and updating software tools such as patent portfolio database, proposal development platform, and CRM.
• Assist in analyzing and evaluating opportunities for commercial application of lab-owned intellectual property (patents and copyrights).
• Support events and programs with logistics, setup, tear down, and promotion.

Requirements

• Must be a full-time college student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a STEM or business-related field with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week during the school year.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable with cold-outreach techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Benefits

• Hourly pay range of $17.25 - $19.50 based on completed credit hours.
