About the position

The Technology Transfer Specialist at the University of Washington's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences plays a crucial role in enhancing the addiction workforce across Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. This position is part of the Northwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Northwest ATTC), which focuses on providing technical assistance and educational services to health organizations and workforce members. The specialist will coordinate and deliver training and support to improve treatment and recovery practices in the field of substance use disorders, contributing to the goals of a federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates technical assistance provided by staff and contractors and delivers technical assistance in areas of demonstrated subject matter expertise or clinical experience.
  • Actively collaborates to support the efforts of the Northwest ATTC Indigenous Communities Advocate, Communication Specialist, and Evaluator.
  • Assists the Project Coordinator in representing the Northwest ATTC at regional workgroups and consortia within HS Region states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
  • Assists the Project Coordinator in maintaining an inter-state, multi-disciplinary network of project collaborators, and establishes relations with other regional technical assistance efforts.
  • Contributes to the review of Northwest ATTC products and marketing materials.
  • Serves as a member of the national ATTC network workgroups and other SAMHSA-based national and regional working groups that develop tools and products to support ATTC network activities or promote regional collaboration with other technical assistance centers.
  • Represents Northwest ATTC at regional and state conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health services, social work, psychology, nursing, or education.
  • Three years of education and/or experience in clinical supervision or professional-level work related to substance use disorder treatment, training, or agency administration, including at least two years of clinical training and experience in direct delivery of health services for persons with substance use disorders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a health services educator, trainer, and/or organizational consultant for persons with substance use disorder.
  • Knowledge of federal agency programs, institutional policies and procedures, and familiarity with states and partner institutions in Health and Human Services Region 10.
  • Knowledge of useful treatment and recovery practices in the addiction field, and comfort applying recommended educational strategies for increasing adoption and implementation of such practices.
  • Experience in working with individuals from diverse populations and varied backgrounds.
  • Skills implementing complex projects, consultation and meeting facilitation; oral and written communication, report preparation, and general application of institutional policies and procedures.
