About the position

The Technical Writer Level 2 at GDIT is responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents related to software and systems engineering. This role involves writing and editing various types of technical documentation, including user guides, implementation guides, and operational manuals, ensuring clarity and comprehensibility for a diverse audience. The position requires collaboration with developers and technical personnel to produce high-quality documentation that supports the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and maintain technical documents including software and systems engineering documentation.
• Write and edit technical documentation for hardware and software, including installation and configuration guides.
• Create code documentation and produce implementation and end-user guides.
• Gather technical information and prepare written text for various documents.
• Maintain a current internal documentation library.
• Use word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Coordinate layout and design of documents and produce defense acquisition documentation.
• Research technical subject matter and express information in a comprehensible manner for a wide audience.
• Work on all phases of documentation and prepare reports and briefings for diverse audiences.

Requirements

• 6+ years of related experience in technical writing.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or 4 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.
• US Citizenship is required.
• Experience with technical documentation for complex programs and contracts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Cryptologic programs or projects.
• Familiarity with NSA DS-89 technical manual standards.
