About the position

Cox Communications is seeking a Telecom Construction Planner to join their Outside Plant Engineering & Construction department. This role is crucial for planning, coordinating, and overseeing network construction activities, specifically focusing on Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks. The Construction Planner will ensure that projects are completed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company specifications, while also maintaining professional interactions with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee completion of various project types including coax/fiber extensions, repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Plan, coordinate, manage, and complete tasks, ensuring adherence to the Master Contract Agreement and Cox specifications.
  • Communicate project status updates and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Coordinate permits, pole applications, joint-trench, and make-ready for utility poles in compliance with NESC code and local requirements.
  • Estimate project expenses, manage project spend, and review/approve final invoicing.
  • Perform field estimates, site surveys, pre-engineering, build coordination, and quality control.
  • Ensure cost-effective designs for construction while future-proofing the network.
  • Manage customer interactions, site walk-throughs, and access for contract labor.
  • Coordinate with public works, developers, customers, building owners, and utilities on projects.
  • Update stakeholders on timeline revisions and project status, and track expenses on construction projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 1 or more year of experience in related field (Construction Planning or Network Operations) with a Telecommunications company.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to drive between work sites.
  • Strong knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent technical skills related to coordinating work and time & cost estimation.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish/develop project planning and execution.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and/or to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a challenging fast-paced work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Workflow And Task Tracking Systems (WATTS).
  • Basic knowledge of the HFC and Fiber Plant, including understanding of telecom infrastructure and service provision.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry is desired.
  • Familiarity/Exposure to reading civil engineering maps.
