About the position

This position supports the architecture of the OT telecom systems and provides the overall direction, guidance, definition, quality, and facilitation for the architecture required to meet business strategies and goals. Overall responsibilities include designing, planning, and optimizing telecommunications networks.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, support, and analyze the enterprise's business drivers, OR strategies, and current OT environment.
  • Recommend solutions to improve, develop, and align OT solutions to enable the business.
  • Work closely with the technology infrastructure department to ensure alignment and collaborate on new technologies.
  • Lead, consult, or oversee multiple highly complex projects/programs/domains that have significant impacts and require in-depth technical know across multiple specific architecture disciplines such as fiber, radio, towers, and communications technology.
  • Identify and assist in the development of Telecom (OT and Network) Strategy and Roadmap, to include aligning with Grid Modernization Strategy and other Business Opportunities.
  • Identify & oversee testing of OT telecom network assets and infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on OT asset and telecom network infrastructure deployments.
  • Leverage product design experience to create innovative solutions that meet customer needs and market demands.
  • Utilize expertise in troubleshooting outages to identify and resolve telecom network issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Implement strategies for network performance optimization to enhance efficiency and reliability across all systems.
  • Apply knowledge of analog and digital modulation techniques to develop and improve communication systems.
  • Conduct detailed conversion processes to ensure accurate data transformation and integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform design reviews to assess and validate project specifications, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Create and maintain standards on OT and telecom network infrastructure.
  • Provide QA/QC to OT and telecom network infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development of OT policies and procedures and implementation of industry best practices.
  • Utilize various wireless / radio frequency technologies including microwave, radio, land mobile, PLTE, etc.
  • Frequency bands and spectrum utilization & management.
  • Utilize Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) 7 Layer model.
  • Comply with Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and associated rules.
  • Coordinate with IT network engineering, supply chain, and infrastructure delivery teams.
  • Support the installation of new products under regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee site survey information to determine the placement of new equipment, parts required for installation, cable type and connections, power equipment needs and outside cabinet modifications and cooling requirements.
  • Perform TQA (technical quality assurance) during installation of a variety of fiber and Operational Technology.
  • Assist with product and design specifications, requests for proposals, bid documents, etc.
  • Oversee and supports BES (Bulk Electric System) projects from inception to commissioning involving Protection & Controls, SCADA systems, etc.
  • Fiber monitoring to support the BES (e.g., monitoring, alerting, proactive and predictive alarming).
  • Research technologies to implement predictive and premature failure of OT system components.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Eight (8) years of experience in telecom network design, management, or engineering
  • A valid driver's license is required prior to employment and must be maintained during employment in this classification.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP certification is preferred.

Benefits

  • The minimum salary for this position is $108,750 annually. Total compensation is commensurate with education, licenses, certifications, skills, and experience.
