About the position

The Telecom Technician II position at Epsilon involves providing end-user telecom support, maintenance, and troubleshooting assistance at the Internal Revenue Service's Kansas City location. The role focuses on resolving network incidents, managing telecom equipment, and ensuring effective communication and support for IRS employees during a nationwide hiring surge.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve assigned network support trouble tickets, providing timely updates in the ticketing system.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot wiring systems, modems, digital devices, computer hardware, and peripherals.
  • Test, troubleshoot, install, and maintain circuits using test equipment.
  • Manage existing operational equipment and install/configure new switches, routers, and IP desk phones.
  • Set up replacement switches and routers at network locations and confirm their operation.
  • Maintain local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) components like CISCO switches and routers.
  • Update asset records and prepare equipment for shipment to the Asset Management organization.
  • Utilize Call Management Software to handle voice mail issues and perform quality control steps for system configurations.
  • Provide informal customer instruction and confirm customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Telecom Technician or similar position.
  • Hands-on experience with hubs, routers, switches, firewalls, TCP/IP protocols, VoIP, DNS, and CISCO hardware.
  • Knowledge of cabling standards and basic telecommunication standards.
  • Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks and telecom environments.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
