The Telecom Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of telecommunication systems at Rex Moore Group, Inc. This position involves a variety of tasks including the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunication components such as cables, routers, and networking equipment. The technician will work both independently and collaboratively within a team to ensure that the telecommunication infrastructure adheres to technical specifications and industry standards. Responsibilities

  • Directs and works with journeymen and helpers.
  • Plans work and is responsible for materials and tools.
  • Installs all work effectively, completely, and in a neat and workmanlike manner.
  • Troubleshoots all telecommunication systems.
  • Monitors the progress of work.
  • Does layout work from blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics.

Requirements

  • Ability to positively identify colors of wires.
  • Comprehension of written documents, specifications, drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficient in using all power tools such as saws, wire pullers, and powder-actuated tools.
  • Capable of digging trenches using hand tools or power equipment.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as trenchers, skip loaders, and forklifts safely.
  • Practices and comprehends safe work procedures, hazard communication, accident reporting, and investigation as outlined in the safety guide.
  • Operates two-handed tools and equipment such as cable cutters, hammer drills, shovels, picks, compression tools, and jackhammers.
  • Ability to operate company trucks with either manual or automatic transmission.
  • Reads and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, and work site directions.
  • Operates and works from electric or gas-powered mechanical personnel lifts.
