About the position

MasTec Communications Group is a leading national infrastructure construction company operating throughout the United States, specializing in both wireline and wireless communication services. As the Director of Operations for the Wireline Telecom division, you will play a pivotal role in driving the overall program performance and ensuring consistency in production, execution quality, vendor selection, resource management, and other key program metrics. This position requires a strong background in wireline telecom, particularly with underground construction and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) experience, to effectively lead and manage operations in this critical area. In this role, you will be responsible for training staff and monitoring their performance and progress, ensuring that quality, delivery, and budget objectives are met. You will communicate with various departments, staff groups, and customers to maintain a high level of service and satisfaction. Regular metric reports and statistics will be produced on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to track progress and identify areas for improvement. You will also be tasked with briefing team leaders on market-specific issues and visiting customers to monitor the quality of service they are receiving. Your responsibilities will include maintaining computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems, supervising and coordinating both professional and non-technical staff, and establishing performance measures, goals, objectives, and priorities. You will manage relationships with vendors and contractors supporting field construction activities, evaluate work performance of crew staff, and monitor expenditures to meet established targets. This position is essential for ensuring that projects are completed accurately and on time, while also addressing any issues that may arise during operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare regular internal/external progress, project status, and problem resolution reports.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and contractors supporting field construction activities.
  • Evaluate overall and individual work performance of crew staff to determine effectiveness in providing quality products within time and cost restraints.
  • Monitor time and dollar expenditures to meet established targets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
