About the position
The Telecommunication Operator - Dispatch position at Springfield Regional Medical Center involves managing communications for emergency and non-emergency assistance. The role requires operating a multi-channeled radio system and maintaining computer-aided dispatch systems while providing excellent customer service. The operator will be responsible for dispatching medical staff, managing incoming and outgoing calls, and monitoring various alarm systems, all under general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Receive, coordinate, and disseminate critical information from emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Maintain radio contact with mobile/field units to monitor response progress and provide support as needed.
- Determine the nature and location of emergencies, prioritize, and dispatch emergency personnel according to established procedures.
- Operate various communications equipment and monitor security systems, including CCTV and alarm systems.
- Acknowledge alarms received and dispatch appropriate personnel for issues at hand.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in telephone operations or dispatch.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
