About the position

The Senior Microsoft Teams / Telecom Engineer is a key role focused on supporting and operating the Teams Voice platform within a globally distributed environment. This position requires a subject matter expert in Skype for Business and Teams Voice technology, with extensive knowledge of PSTN and telecommunications. The engineer will collaborate with various teams and vendors to ensure seamless telecom solutions and maintain the organization's telecom infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Support and operate Teams Voice in a globally distributed environment.
  • Utilize strong skills in SFB / Teams Voice, O365, Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, and PowerShell scripting, with O365 module expertise.
  • Administer and maintain AudioCodes SBCs and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors.
  • Coordinate with business units, facilities, equipment vendors, and telephone companies for telecom solutions.
  • Support Cisco Telepresence systems and integration with Skype / Teams.
  • Manage and maintain the organization’s telecom infrastructure.
  • Deliver architecture designs, system documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks.
  • Provide daily operations support, manage escalations, and troubleshoot call/meeting quality issues.
  • Configure and maintain Teams Phones, Teams Rooms, SIP devices, and related telecom devices.
  • Design and maintain auto attendants, call queues, and e911 capabilities.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, and support analog solutions like paging equipment, elevator phones, and night bells.
  • Lead migrations to Microsoft Teams calling solutions from legacy systems.
  • Develop and enforce standards and policies for Skype / Teams Voice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Voice, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in voice and IT solutions design, including SBCs and SIP Trunks.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Skype for Business / Microsoft Lync / Teams Voice.
  • Expertise with SBC-Session Border Controllers and Voice Gateways (AudioCodes preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of e911 capabilities, Skype Enterprise Voice configurations, WAN infrastructure, VoIP, PBX, and QoS.
  • Proficient understanding of network concepts, including TCP/IP, voice policies, trunking, routing, SMTP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Familiarity with cloud concepts, particularly Microsoft Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID, and Azure AD Connect.
  • Project management skills for tracking tasks, timelines, risks, and issues on smaller projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, load balancing, reverse proxy, DNS, certificates, and related components.
  • PowerShell scripting expertise.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in writing, presenting, active listening, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based work execution (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
  • Strong understanding of managing Windows servers in a VMware environment.
  • Experience with Cisco Telepresence systems is preferred (TMS/CMS).
  • Vendor management skills for obtaining quotes and conducting cost-value analyses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in related areas such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco Telepresence, or ITIL.
