About the position
TEKsystems is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to support various telecommunications initiatives, focusing on operations rather than engineering. The role involves overseeing projects related to fiber deployment and providing technical expertise in battery support across multiple projects. The engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with standards and procedures in telecommunications DC power systems.
Responsibilities
- Support various telecommunications initiatives, including BAU work and project-based tasks.
- Oversee battery support across telecommunications projects, including troubleshooting alarms and batteries/rectifiers.
- Perform site walks and surveys to evaluate current designs and update standards and SOPs for telecommunications DC power.
- Coordinate with design vendors, OEMs, construction vendors, and internal cross-functional teams.
- Own documentation within various databases and collect/update As-Builts.
- Respond to alarms and work with engineering teams on project-based work.
- Oversee and QC builds from general contractors and assist in creating SOPs.
- Perform training and communicate effectively across various levels of the organization.
Requirements
- Experience with AC power and DC power systems.
- Knowledge of telecommunications systems and wireless equipment.
- Familiarity with DWDM and fiber optic networks.
- Experience with batteries and rectifiers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and design analysis capabilities.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in telecommunications within utility or communications customers.
- Solid communication skills and ability to build relationships with vendors.
