About the position

The Telecommunications Foreman at UAM Construction Services is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and transfer of overhead telecommunications systems and utility poles. This role involves managing a small crew, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely, and adhering to industry standards. The foreman will utilize specialized equipment in a fast-paced outdoor environment and is expected to lead by example while promoting teamwork and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and transfer overhead telecommunications lines
  • Locate/troubleshoot telecommunication cables and wires
  • Operate bucket trucks, hand tools, power tools, ladders, signal level meters, voltmeters, and test equipment
  • Operate communications devices in accordance with company policies
  • Safely operate company vehicles and maintain assigned vehicle and equipment
  • Complete paperwork, timesheets, test results, vehicle inspections, and logs
  • Assist team personnel in problem-solving and task performance
  • Comply with safety standards and report accidents/incidents immediately
  • Safely load, transport, and unload construction equipment
  • Learn new skills and techniques and pass them on to others
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • General knowledge of construction practices
  • Proficient in pole transfers
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screens
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • 2+ years of Aerial Lineman, telecommunication and pole climbing experience preferred
  • Possess a valid CDL A and DOT medical card
  • High school graduate or GED certificate preferred
  • OSHA certification is a plus, but not required

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with heavy equipment operation
  • Comfortable with traveling from location to location
  • Ability to work nights and weekends if necessary
