About the position

The Telecommunications Manager (ATS) at Fort Johnson is responsible for overseeing all telecommunications operations, ensuring that systems are designed, implemented, and maintained to meet operational requirements and comply with DOD 8140 standards. This role involves managing a team of technicians, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring secure and efficient communication systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of telecommunications technicians and engineers, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of telecommunications systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure all telecommunications systems and operations comply with DOD 8140 standards and maintain the required Secret Clearance.
  • Coordinate and manage telecommunications projects, including upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage relationships with telecommunications vendors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all telecommunications systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve telecommunications issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure telecommunications systems align with overall organizational goals and security protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Active Secret Clearance is required.
  • Must be compliant with DOD 8140 requirements; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP) are preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications systems and technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a military or defense environment.
  • Advanced telecommunications certifications.
  • Familiarity with DOD regulations and standards.
