About the position

The Infrastructure Services Division Telecommunication Services (ISD-TS) Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented quality assurance professional. In this role, you will leverage your extensive skills and experience to assist ISD-TS in adhering to current industry telecommunications standards as well as LANL-specific communications specifications and standards. The ISD-TS group is responsible for providing a wide range of telecommunication technologies and services that support scientific research programs and daily operations at LANL. This includes delivering voice, wireless, data, and video communication services to the entire Laboratory. As a quality assurance professional, you will manage quality assurance reviews of construction projects that are essential for telecommunications integration. Your experience will be instrumental in navigating LANL's diverse business environment, which encompasses scientific, research, and national security facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of outside plant infrastructure for aerial, buried, and underground construction, and will have experience collaborating closely with communications designers, subcontractors, and internal personnel. Familiarity with telecommunication standards, such as ANSI/EIA/TIA industry codes and the NEC/NFPA 70/NESC, is also essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage quality assurance reviews of construction projects related to telecommunications integration.
  • Collaborate with communications designers, subcontractors, and internal personnel to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist in maintaining telecommunications standards and specifications for LANL.
  • Provide support for telecommunication technologies and services that enable scientific research and daily operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of outside plant infrastructure for aerial, buried, and underground construction.
  • Experience working closely with communications designers, subcontractors, and internal organizational personnel.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication standards, such as ANSI/EIA/TIA industry codes and the NEC/NFPA 70/NESC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with communication record management and electronic cable testing devices.
  • Experience with federal facility rules and regulations on communication operations.
  • Journeyman electrician certification.
  • BICSI RCD Certification.
