About the position
The Telecommunications Specialist position at the USAJFK Special Warfare Center & School in Fort Liberty, NC, involves operating and managing various communication systems, providing support and training to Special Warfare Training Group students, and ensuring the effective integration of communication technologies. The role requires technical expertise in radio communications and IT networks, along with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain these systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate and participate in communications nets using long, medium, and short-range high frequency (HF) communications and the Special Mission Radio System (SMRS).
- Provide advice, instruction, and assistance in communications systems to Special Warfare Training Group students, contractors, and civilian employees.
- Review vendor system software, hardware, and firmware for applicability to Base Station Communications usage and integration.
- Utilize network monitoring and performance tools for analysis and diagnosis.
- Perform system backup and recovery.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, including administration and support of IT networks and radio communications.
- Experience troubleshooting communications disruptions, including software reloads and system backups.
- Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a relevant field, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a combination of education and experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with satellite and fiber optic computer stations.
- Knowledge of telecommunications management and information systems management.
