About the position

The Teller I position at South State Bank involves providing exceptional customer service while handling various banking transactions. The role requires a strong understanding of the bank's products and services, compliance with banking regulations, and the ability to build customer relationships through effective communication and referrals. The Teller is responsible for managing risks associated with transactions and maintaining a professional appearance and work environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the SouthState Bank Gold Customer Service Standards.
• Understand and explain the bank's products and services, including their features, benefits, and regulations.
• Identify customer needs and expectations through active listening and meaningful conversations.
• Expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the position's goals.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area and present a professional appearance in accordance with bank policy.
• Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
• Cashing checks and processing savings withdrawals within assigned limits and prescribed procedures.
• Sell certified checks within assigned limits and balance transactions daily.
• Assist in guiding and training new tellers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
• Manage risks associated with job functions and follow security and audit procedures.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in cash handling, sales, and customer service; previous banking experience preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills and computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
