About the position

The Teller I position at First Interstate Bank is an entry-level role responsible for performing daily teller transactions in both lobby and drive-up locations. The role emphasizes outstanding customer service and the development of client relationships, with a focus on recognizing referral opportunities for additional retail products and services.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer account services by receiving deposits and loan payments, cashing checks, issuing savings withdrawals, and selling cashier's checks, traveler's checks, and savings bonds.
• Answers customer questions in person and/or on the telephone.
• Records customer account transactions by logging cashier checks, traveler's checks, and preparing currency transaction reports.
• Cross-sells bank products by answering inquiries and informing customers of new services and product promotions.
• Completes special customer requests such as closing accounts, taking orders for checks, and providing special statements.
• Reconciles cash drawer by counting and packaging currency and coins, and maintaining a supply of cash and currency.
• Complies with bank operations and security procedures by participating in dual-control functions and maintaining customer traffic surveys.
• Maintains customer confidence by keeping information confidential and cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
• Improves teller job knowledge by attending training sessions.
• Contributes to customer service and bank success by welcoming new requests and helping others accomplish job results.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Excellent mathematical aptitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a cash handling role preferred.
