About the position

The Teller position at Mainstreet Credit Union is a full-time role focused on providing exceptional service to members. Tellers serve as the first point of contact, handling transactions and promoting credit union products while building trust-based relationships. The role requires excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a positive image of the credit union.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with members utilizing the credit union service standards, greeting them in-person to respond to their needs and concerns.
  • Deliver high-quality member service by listening to requests and finding appropriate solutions.
  • Provide a soft-hand-off to the appropriate person or department as necessary.
  • Process and audit transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, purchases, transfers, and payments.
  • Maintain and balance a cash drawer, adhering to established cash handling and balancing procedures.
  • Build rapport with members and assess their needs while processing transactions to identify opportunities for referrals to credit union products and services.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all credit union products and services handled by this position.
  • Promote and maintain a positive image of Mainstreet Credit Union to current and potential members and the community.
  • Perform membership maintenance as necessary and required.
  • Understand state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance, including the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws.
  • Meet or exceed goals established by management.
  • Assist in the completion of daily activities, including opening and closing the branch as needed.
  • Travel to various locations as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One month to twelve months of prior experience in a retail or financial environment, including cash handling and providing exceptional service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Relevant computer skills and ability to acclimate to required systems quickly.
