About the position

The Teller Supervisor at City National Bank is responsible for managing the teller operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and supervising the teller staff. This role involves overseeing daily banking transactions, maintaining compliance with bank policies, and providing training and support to tellers to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and manages other bank tellers as assigned.
  • Maintains sufficient, skilled bank staff by scheduling appropriate employees and providing ongoing training and cross-training opportunities.
  • Collaborates with Branch Operations Manager to conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Reports bank drawer shortages and other discrepancies, ensuring that all differences are managed according to bank policies and practices.
  • Conducts various banking transactions including cashing checks and accepting deposits in accordance with the Bank's established policies and procedures.
  • Issues bank and personal money orders, and correspondent drafts.
  • Verifies important information including endorsements, dates, and identification, to cash or deposit checks and pay out funds.
  • Records transactions into banking system, producing computer-generated receipts.
  • Maintains proper currencies and coins in bank drawers.
  • Balances all monies in cash drawers at the end of each shift.
  • Calculates daily transactions using appropriate technology, which may include computers or adding machines.
  • Prepares monies for deposit or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank.
  • Orders a cash supply to meet daily needs.
  • Demonstrates a helpful and friendly attitude.
  • Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to sell or promote new bank services.
  • Maintains the teller area to ensure the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.
  • Manages risk in every transaction and detects fraudulent transactions to prevent loss.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working directly with the public is preferred.
  • Five years experience as a Bank Teller.
  • Two years experience as a supervisor.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of customer service.
  • Ability to remain friendly and provide excellent customer service in a professional and timely manner.
  • Excellent managerial skills.
  • Above average knowledge of fundamental mathematics.
  • Ability to be trustworthy and act with integrity.
  • Ability to remain calm and to minimize panic in the event of a robbery.
