The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fund and grant accounting, with a minimum of four years of progressive experience in reporting and compliance. They will demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles, including GAAP and Federal OMB CFR-200 requirements, and will have experience evaluating internal controls. The role requires critical thinking, advanced planning, analytical skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. The Grants Administrator will also need to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information. This position is full-time and non-exempt, requiring a commitment to the Food Bank's mission and values, including community leadership, transparency, innovation, and diversity. The Grants Administrator will work collaboratively with various teams to enhance the Food Bank's accounting policies and procedures, ultimately contributing to the goal of eliminating hunger in Alameda County.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing financial oversight for grants and contracts to ensure appropriate use and accurate reporting of financial transactions.
  • Compile financial and non-financial data for internal reports, compliance records, and grant billings in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with the Food Bank's accounting policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate internal controls and ensure adherence to GAAP and Federal OMB CFR-200 requirements.
  • Manage competing priorities and remain agile in a constantly changing, deadline-driven environment.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in fund and grant accounting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and Federal OMB CFR-200 requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating internal controls.
  • Critical thinking and highly developed planning, analytical, research, and creative resolution skills.
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and task-management skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-directed with the ability to take initiative and work effectively both independently and within a team.
