About the position

The Specialist II, Payroll position at Neurocrine Biosciences is responsible for supporting payroll and stock option functions within the company. This role involves ensuring compliance with labor and taxation laws, processing payroll, maintaining personnel records, and assisting with various payroll-related tasks. The position is integral to the company's operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of payroll management.

Responsibilities

• Inputs changes to personnel information or tax law and overtime or bonus payments or calculations.
• Maintains personnel records, including timesheets.
• Assists in the preparation and distribution of payroll-related summaries.
• Processes the semi-monthly payroll using ADP payroll services (Workforce Now).
• Audits payroll checks and direct deposit information.
• Supports the design and audit of recurring payroll reports, records filing and maintenance.
• Responsible for W-2 reporting compliance (relocation, loans, stock options, garnishment, etc.), and audit function.
• Administers the recording of equity earnings through Payroll.
• Completes special projects, as needed, to support Payroll, Stock Administration and General Ledger functions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / Associates degree and 2+ years of related experience or equivalent experience, training, and/or certification.
• Requires interpersonal, communication and organization skills including a good sense of judgment.
• Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and work well within a team environment.
• Must be proficient with computer applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience with payroll processing, labor laws, tax reporting and compliance issues.
• Experience with stock option administration a plus.
• Knowledge of ADP Payroll preferred and Workday, Equity Edge/E*TRADE a plus.
