About the position

The Temporary Accountant position at Spherion is a remote role focused on supporting the accounting and finance team of a growing company that utilizes advanced technologies to enhance agricultural practices. This temporary position is expected to last until January 2025, with the potential for permanent placement. The role involves various accounting responsibilities, including payroll processing, month-end close procedures, and financial reporting, contributing to the company's mission of sustainable agriculture.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll
• Support month-end close procedures and reconciliations for both companies
• Support the preparation and posting of monthly journal entries for assigned accounts
• Prepare and send customer invoices, including calculation of sales tax as applicable
• Assist in providing audit documentation to external auditors
• Assist with implementation of Netsuite (conversion from QuickBooks Online)
• Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc finance and accounting projects

Requirements

• 1-4 years of experience in accounting
• Experience in supporting the conversion of accounting systems (conversion from QuickBooks Online to Netsuite is a huge plus)
• Experience with preparing consolidated financial statements, including foreign currency translation adjustments
• Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP
• Familiarity with new or complex accounting principles including ASC 606, ASC 718, and ASC 842
• Impeccable attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to self-direct and complete work independently by or in advance of deadlines
• Proficiency with Netsuite
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
• Ability to adapt readily in a rapidly changing business environment
