About the position

Mendocino College is seeking a temporary Administrative Assistant I for the Information Technology Department. This role involves providing administrative support and office assistance, with a focus on maintaining positive relationships with faculty, staff, and the public. The position is designed to support the college's mission of equity and diversity, ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need for success.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules and provides office support and specialized tasks for the assigned program.
  • Assists with administrative matters and coordinates activities/events.
  • Provides frequent and responsible contact with faculty, staff, students, and/or the public for the program.
  • Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, referring to others as appropriate.
  • Provides information and assistance regarding program policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Coordinates and performs specialized tasks which support the assigned program, such as financial aid and instruction.
  • Verifies, records, and compiles a variety of information and data for reports and other purposes.
  • Assists with budget development and provides budget recordkeeping.
  • Prepares, reviews, maintains and distributes a variety of reports and documents.
  • Composes and prepares correspondence; arranges and schedules meetings and appointments.
  • Maintains records and files; establishes and maintains filing systems.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment including a computer and related software.
  • Trains and provides work direction to others as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in an administrative/office environment.
  • High School Diploma / GED Equivalent; AA Preferred.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Strong recordkeeping techniques and correct English usage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a college or educational environment.
  • Familiarity with budget development and financial recordkeeping.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $24.42.
  • Earn forty (40) hours of sick leave per fiscal year.
  • Potential eligibility for CalPERS Retirement based on hours worked.
