About the position
The Temporary Affordable Housing Assistant Social Services Coordinator at MMS Group is responsible for providing essential support to residents of a 204-unit residential property in Baltimore, MD. This role focuses on facilitating housing success through crisis intervention, employment assistance, and health safety resources. The position is temporary, estimated to last for one year during the property's rehabilitation phase, and involves outreach, coordination of community activities, and maintaining relationships with local service providers.
Responsibilities
- Orient new residents and assist with accessing rent/utility assistance and case management services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with agencies serving low-income, elderly, and disabled individuals.
- Work closely with local supportive service providers to assist residents in obtaining income through employment, SSI, or SSD.
- Maintain information on relevant referral resources and produce community resource documents.
- Plan, organize, and conduct social, educational, artistic, and other community-based activities for residents.
- Perform other duties as outlined in the job description.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in community organizing or social work.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of human service planning, sexual and domestic violence, and low-income issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
