About the position

The Assistant Manager at Lush Handmade Cosmetics plays a crucial role in supporting the Shop Manager and ensuring operational excellence within the store. This position emphasizes leadership, customer service, and sales performance while fostering a positive team environment. The Assistant Manager is responsible for driving sales, enhancing customer experiences, and developing staff through coaching and training, all while embodying Lush's core values and commitment to ethical practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to exceed daily sales goals and ensure a unique customer experience.
  • Educate customers and staff on brand values and ethical practices.
  • Increase product knowledge and make informed recommendations to customers.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and understand metrics, budgets, and reports to drive profitable results.
  • Support the team on the sales floor, problem-solve, and motivate staff to meet sales goals.
  • Own personal development and support team growth through coaching and feedback.
  • Assist in recruiting and staffing top-performing staff for the shop.
  • Collaborate with the manager to improve staff engagement, retention, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for operations.
  • Support inventory management and ensure product availability within budget.
  • Maintain a clean and visually appealing work environment to enhance customer experience.
  • Schedule staff appropriately to meet operational needs.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience managing or supervising in a retail environment.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong customer service, supervisory, and sales skills.
  • Knowledge and interest in skincare, natural beauty, and ethical business practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with consultation-based customer service models.
  • Ability to develop and train staff through positive coaching and feedback.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and adaptable to other systems.
  • Basic HR skills in hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Experience in cross-cultural collaboration and DEIB or social justice training.
  • Fluency in Spanish, French, or other languages.
