About the position
The Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach- 1st Assistant is responsible for supporting the Head Men's Wrestling Coach in developing and maintaining a successful Men's Wrestling Program at Rowan College of South Jersey. This part-time seasonal position involves coaching the Gloucester Campus Roadrunners and encompasses various responsibilities including recruitment, practice preparation, and game management.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment of potential student-athletes
- Practice preparation
- In and out-of season training
- Game/match day management
- Retention of quality student-athletes
- Ensure the success and safety of student athletes on and off the field
- Monitor team members' academic progress and performance
- Make referrals to appropriate College departments to enhance student's academic success
- Safe transportation of team members to and from away contests
- Adhere to all NJCAA, Region 19, RCSJ and Athletic Department rules and regulations
- Assist the Head Coach with fundraising and development of alumni and community relations
- Be a team player within the Athletics Department and the College
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Executive Director of Athletics
Requirements
- Entry-level coaching experience
- Knowledge of wrestling techniques and strategies
- Ability to work with student-athletes
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to monitor academic progress of student-athletes
- Physical ability to perform coaching duties
