About the position

The Steamboat Springs School District is seeking a qualified Temporary Associate Network Support Engineer to join the District IT team. This is a temporary position to support the technology team for approximately 8-12 weeks. The role involves a full-time schedule, which will be discussed during the interview process. The entry pay for this position is $32.18 per hour. The primary responsibilities of the Associate Network Support Engineer include assisting with the administration of the wide-area network, hardware, circuits, and carrier relations, as well as managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security systems. The engineer will also assist with updates and modifications to LAN/WAN network hardware, software, and services, and will be involved in installing, updating, and modifying wireless network hardware and software. The role requires availability for some weekend, early morning, or night work, and involves working closely with the technology department to acquire and support hardware and software purchases. Additionally, the engineer will assist in evaluating LAN/WAN performance and capacities to identify problem areas or bottlenecks, and provide support for various technology systems including VOIP telephone systems, mobile device management, and server environments. The position also entails monitoring and resolving Help Desk requests, providing support for remote users, and assisting with the overall web administration. The engineer will be responsible for overseeing and administering premise security cameras and assisting in training users of technology. Other duties may include supporting food service point of sale systems and collaborating with the Curriculum Department and Media Services on technology integration.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with administration of the wide-area network, hardware, circuits and carrier relations.
  • Assists with administration of the firewall, intrusion detection system and security systems.
  • Assist with updates and modifications with the LAN/WAN network hardware, software and services.
  • Installs, updates and modifies Wireless network hardware, software and services.
  • Available for some weekend, early morning or night work.
  • Works with technology department in acquiring and supporting hardware and software purchased.
  • Assist with evaluation of LAN/WAN performance and capacities to identify problem areas or bottlenecks.
  • Assists with Avaya VOIP telephone system and voicemail administration.
  • Assists with and has good understanding of Mobile Device Management, IOS, Chrome, and Chrome management.
  • Installs and/or assists, updates and modifications on all server environments.
  • Recommends and implements solutions, software packages and tools to increase productivity.
  • Coordinate standards for district technology purchases.
  • Assists with overall web administration.
  • Install, update and modify all desktop hardware and software services.
  • Monitor and resolve all Help Desk assigned requests.
  • Provide support for remote users, both staff and student.
  • Provide support for Audio Visual, different presentation methods.
  • Oversees, designs and administers premise security cameras.
  • Assist in training users of technology.
  • Assist facilities department on technology related to monitoring of mechanical systems.
  • Provide support for Food Service Point of Sale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) in Computer Science or related field from four-year college or university; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, technical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be service oriented and convey technical information clearly.
  • Experience in administration, support and design of LAN/WAN systems.
  • Experience with cable creation and termination for computer/telephony environments.
  • Excellent understanding of Internet Protocol.
  • Experience with SNMP and MIBv2.
  • Experience with layer 2/layer 3 switching and routing protocols.
  • Working knowledge and experience in installing, securing, maintaining and supporting LAN/WAN systems and wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n systems.
  • Experience with networking software and monitoring systems and/or sniffer applications.
  • Experience in administration, support and design of voice/telephone systems primarily Nortel.
  • Advanced MSOffice Skills.
  • Intermediate Windows, database, Networking and IOS skills.
