About the position

The Temporary Career Coach position at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management is a part-time role focused on providing individualized career coaching to undergraduate business students. The coach will assist students in exploring various business majors and careers, particularly in Consulting, Management Information Systems, and Supply Chain & Operations Management. This role is designed to support students in their career development process through personalized coaching sessions and resource creation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, 30-minute career coaching appointments to Carlson School students.
  • Manage electronic coaching calendar in alignment with team capacity expectations.
  • Complete observations and notes from each appointment, within an established timeframe.
  • Assist with projects such as student-facing career development content and resource creation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in career coaching or counseling, student affairs, educational psychology, business or closely related field.
  • Proven record of at least five years of career coaching experience.
  • Previous experience working with undergraduate business students.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate career development trends, college recruiting trends, and job search strategies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with University of Minnesota students and online appointment management systems (APLUS).
  • Knowledge of Carlson School of Management career, engagement, academic, and wellness resources available to support students.

Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $50/hour, paid bi-weekly. As a temporary appointment, this position is not eligible for medical, dental, or other employee benefits.
