About the position

The HEDIS Medical Record Analyst is a temporary role focused on retrieving and abstracting medical records to capture essential data for HEDIS reporting. This position is designed for individuals with a background in nursing or a related field, who will work remotely within specific states. The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, abstract, or over read medical records for HEDIS reporting.
• Collect assigned medical records from EMR/EHR systems and prepare them for abstraction.
• Document retrieval progress and findings for each EMR accessed.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with provider offices.
• Review assigned medical records to abstract specified clinical data elements for HEDIS reporting.
• Document abstraction findings on appropriate tools as directed by the HEDIS MR Team.
• Communicate additional pursuit strategies to team members as needed.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing or related field.
• 3 years of experience in a clinical setting.
• Experience working with medical records and/or EMR/EHR systems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated command of medical terminology and clinical processes.
• Problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and 10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG coding conventions is a plus.
• Experience with quality oversight and teaching is desired.
• Prior experience in HEDIS and medical record retrieval and/or abstraction.

Nice-to-haves

• Valid Registered Nursing (RN/LVN/LPN) certification preferred.
• CPC - Certified Professional Coder certification preferred.
• CCS - Certified Coding Specialist certification preferred.

• Base pay range of $42.00-$50.00 an hour DOE.
