About the position

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) is seeking a Temporary HR Generalist to join its Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. This role is designed for individuals who are looking to apply their HR knowledge in a professional setting under direct supervision. The HR Generalist will be responsible for applying professional HR concepts, policies, and procedures to complete HR assignments that are of limited scope and impact. The position requires the individual to receive instructions on most work assignments and to regularly consult with HR specialists as they tackle increasingly complex assignments. The HR Generalist will follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing HR situations or data, from which answers can be readily obtained. The role will involve exercising some judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate actions in various HR scenarios. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, as well as organizational and problem-solving skills. They will need to acquire knowledge of the organization's policies and procedures, as well as human resources policies and programs. A basic understanding of a human resources management system (HRMS) and other related business software programs is also required. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for integrating information and completing assignments. The HR Generalist will also need to handle difficult or volatile situations or individuals effectively. This position is ideal for someone with a Bachelor's degree in a related area and 1-3 years of relevant experience, who is looking to grow their career in human resources within a prestigious university setting.
