About the position

The Temporary IT Support Specialist at the University of Pennsylvania will provide first-tier technical support for faculty, staff, and students, addressing a variety of IT issues and assisting with classroom technology. This role combines responsibilities of an IT Support Specialist and a Classroom Technology Specialist, ensuring smooth operation of technology in educational settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-tier IT support for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Resolve technical problems at initial intake and escalate as needed.
  • Assist the Classroom & Instructional Technology Manager in supporting teaching and learning efforts.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks in classrooms and conference rooms.
  • Provide scheduled and emergency assistance to faculty before and during classes.
  • Monitor classroom and conference room usage metrics to identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in a customer service role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to maintain a calm disposition under stress.
  • Good team skills, organizational and time management skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge of Windows 10 operating system; Apple OS knowledge is helpful.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs occasionally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience conducting technical training and orientations for users.
  • Knowledge of AV technologies, including Crestron systems.
  • Familiarity with software programs such as Canvas, Adobe Connect, Poll Everywhere, and Panopto.
