About the position

The Temporary, Limited-Term Service Worker position is designed for individuals to perform a variety of manual, semi-skilled, and skilled duties related to the construction, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the District's domestic water distribution system. This role is temporary, not exceeding 1000 hours per fiscal year, and typically operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. The position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in water distribution operations under immediate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Work from work orders, plat books, blueprints, recording devices, and verbal and written instructions.
• Place traffic control and warning signs; set up barricades.
• Maintain work, time, and material records, logs, and reports.
• Learn to operate a variety of hand and power tools necessary for assigned work.
• Observe and comply with District and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
• Perform a variety of manual, semi-skilled, and skilled duties associated with the operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of various District appurtenances.
• Perform construction work including installation or abandonment of District facilities and water main tie-ins.
• Learn to fabricate a variety of distribution equipment and use oxyacetylene torch and arc welding equipment.
• Locate and mark District facilities in accordance with underground service alert responsibilities.
• Perform atmosphere testing and maintain records related to confined space entry.

Requirements

• Equivalent to a High School Diploma.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment.
• One (1) year of experience working in plumbing, construction, or automotive trades.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of basic principles of water hydraulics and plumbing practices.
• Experience with diagnostic tools for maintenance needs.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.

• Salary range of $4,735.00 - $6,466.00 Monthly.
