The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking a Temporary Research Analyst II in the Chemistry & Biochemistry department. This position is designed for individuals who are capable of developing specific plans for experiments within the assigned laboratory and area of study. The role involves reading relevant literature, modifying and adapting procedures to meet project objectives, and conducting experiments independently. The Research Analyst will be responsible for recording and interpreting data from experiments, as well as evaluating and providing limited interpretations of results. This position requires a solid theoretical knowledge base to work effectively in the area of inquiry and the ability to exercise independent judgment in planning and executing experimental details. In addition to conducting experiments, the Research Analyst may also be tasked with training and supervising other technicians or students in specific phases of the experiments. The work is performed under the general supervision of a principal investigator, who will review the work through periodic conferences and reports, focusing on its contribution to the overall project objectives. This temporary position is part of a pool, meaning that the length of the assignment will depend on departmental needs, with the possibility of continuation. However, it is important to note that temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment, and employees in temporary positions do not earn leave.
