About the position

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking a Temporary Research Analyst II in the Psychology department. This position involves developing specific plans for experiments within the assigned laboratory and area of study. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading relevant literature, modifying and adapting procedures to meet project objectives, and carrying out experiments independently. The role requires the ability to record and interpret data from experiments and procedures conducted by oneself and others. The position demands a solid theoretical knowledge base to work effectively in the area of inquiry, as well as independent judgment in planning and conducting the details of experiments. Evaluation and limited interpretation of results are also key components of the role. Additionally, the Research Analyst II may be tasked with training and supervising other technicians or students in specific phases of experiments. This work is performed under the general supervision of a principal investigator, who will review the work through periodic conferences and reports, assessing its contribution to the project objectives. This temporary position is designed to support the department's research needs and may lead to further opportunities based on departmental requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop specific plans for experiments in the assigned laboratory and area of study.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in a related science.
  • Three years of laboratory experience in the area of research assigned.
  • Hands-on experience in the specific area of work assigned.
