The Temporary Security Monitor position at Chelsea High School is a part-time role focused on maintaining safety and order within the school environment. Reporting directly to the Assistant Facilities Director, Principal, or Assistant Principal, the Security Monitor will be responsible for screening and validating all visitors to the school, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access. This role is crucial in fostering a secure atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors alike. The Security Monitor will patrol the school buildings and grounds as assigned, actively monitoring for any security violations and reporting them to local and school authorities as necessary. In addition to monitoring the premises, the Security Monitor will operate two-way communication equipment to stay in contact with other staff members and emergency services if needed. The position requires the filing of appropriate reports to superiors regarding any incidents or observations made during the shift. The Security Monitor is expected to set a positive example through professional dress and speech, maintaining confidentiality regarding all information received and treating all students fairly as individuals. This role is particularly suited for individuals who can develop pride in the school and contribute positively to the school community. The position is part-time, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and is expected to last between 3 to 12 months. The salary for this position is $18.95 per hour. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and demonstrate good personal characteristics such as self-discipline, maturity, and professionalism. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required, along with the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic setting. Experience working with students is also essential, as the Security Monitor will interact with students, teachers, and the public regularly.
