About the position

The Pasco School District is seeking a Temporary Special Services Special Education Teacher for the Secondary Resource Room at Ray Reynolds Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. This position is a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) role that will follow the school schedule for the academic year. The salary will be based on the 2024-2025 Teacher Salary Schedule, with links provided for the certificated salary schedule and employee benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and instruct para-educators or demonstrate a willingness to learn how to do so.
  • Design and implement standards-based Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Participate in functional behavioral assessments.
  • Utilize a co-teaching model or commit to participating in training for co-teaching.
  • Implement multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and social skills.
  • Share strategies with grade level partners to meet the district's improvement plan.
  • Collaborate and work as defined by the school improvement plan.
  • Attend training in Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) or demonstrate training/experience in this area.
  • Design specially designed instruction for students with a range of disabilities to access the general education curriculum.
  • Participate in professional learning communities as determined by the building.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct para-educators or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to design and implement standards-based IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Willingness to participate in functional behavioral assessments.
  • Successful experience with a co-teaching model or commitment to participate in training.
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge of implementing multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and social skills.
  • Knowledge of Balanced Literacy or willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to share with grade level partners to meet the district's improvement plan.
  • Willingness to collaborate and work as defined by the school improvement plan.
  • Training and/or experience in Guided Language Acquisition Design or attend GLAD training.
  • Ability to design specially designed instruction for students with a range of disabilities to access general education curriculum.
  • Willingness to participate in professional learning communities as determined by the building.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual/Biliterate in English/Spanish.
  • Previous experience in working with students with a variety of disabilities.
  • Previous classroom teaching experience.
  • Computer knowledge and literacy.
  • Experience with implementing iRead, System44 and/or Do the Math.
