About the position

As a Temporary Special Election Board Worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting the elections process by traveling to various locations around Maricopa County. Your primary responsibility will be to provide professional and non-partisan services and assistance to voters who are ill, disabled, or confined to their personal residence or assisted living facility. This position is a temporary assignment with Maricopa County that supports the Elections Department before, during, and after the election cycle. Maricopa County Elections serves over 2.5 million registered voters, helping them exercise their right to make informed decisions regarding the selection of local and national leaders and ballot measures. The work environment is vibrant and exciting, emphasizing teamwork and the pursuit of opportunities to positively impact the communities within the 4th largest and fastest-growing County in the United States. As part of this role, you will be paired into a bipartisan board to travel throughout Maricopa County, ensuring that all voters receive the assistance they need during the election process. In addition to providing assistance to voters, you will be responsible for scheduling facility visits throughout Maricopa County and must abide by facility requirements regarding the health and safety of residents. This position requires a commitment to working full-time, with mandatory overtime hours during the election cycle, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the elections process by providing professional and non-partisan services to voters.
  • Travel to various locations around Maricopa County to assist voters who are ill, disabled, or confined to their residences.
  • Schedule facility visits throughout Maricopa County.
  • Abide by facility requirements regarding the health and safety of residents.
  • Work collaboratively in a bipartisan board to ensure fair assistance to all voters.
  • Assist other divisions of Elections or Recorders with their daily functions and activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in Arizona.
  • Pass an applicable background screening.
  • Possess an Arizona Driver's License.
  • Have current personal auto insurance and a reliable vehicle.
  • Complete a Maricopa County Defensive Driving Course upon hire.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • One or more years of professional driving experience.
  • One or more years of general office experience.
  • One or more years of moderate computer use experience.
  • One or more years of election experience.
  • One or more years of customer service experience.
