About the position

The Temporary TK Kindergarten Teacher at Edward B. Cole, Sr. Academy is responsible for planning, teaching, and differentiating instruction for young learners in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role emphasizes high-quality instruction aligned with the Science of Reading, fostering a love of learning and ensuring success for all students. The teacher will work closely with a bilingual instructional assistant and engage in collaboration with colleagues to enhance educational outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach engaging lessons for TK students.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Motivate and inspire students to foster a love of learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues for cross-grade level planning.
• Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with the Science of Reading.
• Promote a high-quality, personalized education program.
• Engage with parents to strengthen the school-home partnership.

Requirements

• Valid California Multiple Subjects Credential
• CLAD or BCLAD certification (EL Authorization)
• Completion of basic skills (CBEST)
• Subject Matter Exam results for NCLB compliance
• B.A. or B.S. degree required; M.A. or M.S. preferred but not required
• CPR/First Aid Certification required before the first day of employment
• At least 24 units in early childhood education or childhood development
• Professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool age children
• Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred
• Experience with evidence-based reading programs like SIPPS, DIBELS, and Heggerty
