A large law firm is seeking to hire a temporary trademark paralegal for an immediate assignment, with the potential for the role to become permanent. This position is ideally hybrid, allowing for work in New York City, Washington D.C., or Chicago, with some flexibility regarding office days. The firm is looking for a candidate who can efficiently prepare and file U.S. trademark prosecution and maintenance documents electronically with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This includes a variety of tasks such as preparing applications, responding to office actions, requesting extensions of time, submitting statements of use, filing affidavits, managing renewals, and handling assignments and powers of attorney. In addition to filing duties, the paralegal will be responsible for conducting trademark screening searches using third-party platforms and performing common law searches. The role also involves corresponding with clients regarding routine phases of trademark prosecution and maintenance matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trademark law, with 4 to 10+ years of experience working in a trademark department, including at least 4 years focused on trademark prosecution. Experience with copyrights is considered a plus. The pay rate for this position is competitive, ranging from $40 to $70 per hour, and interviews will commence immediately.
